For the first time, Oscar-winning filmmakers Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin (Free Solo, The Rescue) take to the skies to document SpaceX's inspiring rise and Elon Musk's two-decade campaign to reignite America's space ambitions. This intimate depiction of the engineers and astronauts chosen for the momentous event provides rare access inside the first crewed mission launched from U.S. territory since the retirement of the Space Shuttle in 2011.
RETURN TO SPACE follows NASA veterans Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley, as well as their families, on their journey to the International Space Station and into mission control with Elon Musk and the SpaceX team as they bring them back to Earth for a dramatic splashdown return.
